The deadline for the next issue is April 1, 2020

I have started building a Diplomacy World Email Mailing List through the service Mailchimp. You can sign up for that mailing list by clicking the following link:

http://eepurl.com/dzKKtT
The reason for starting this Mailchimp list is as follows:

1. Enabling direct contact with DW readers where they can add or drop themselves with ease.

2. My old email mailing list was a mess of 8 groups that I had to mail BCC two per day or I get tagged as spam by Yahoo and I can’t use Outlook for a day with that account. I don’t send to those lists any longer, so if that was the only place you were getting notices, you’re not getting anything now.

3. The oldest and most consistent method of communication is the old Yahoo group. Those groups are being shut down and are effectively useless now.

Diplomacy World Deadline is Upon Us

The deadline for the next issue of Diplomacy World is January 1, and I’m not seeing much material make it into my Inbox. If you’ve never written for Diplomacy World, now is the time. You don’t need to be a master player to write an article. You can talk about your experiences, describe a recent face-to-face tournament or club activity, promote an upcoming one, use your mistakes to educate new players. History, variants, humor, strategy, tactics…there’s so many paths your writing could take. Email your material to dougray30@yahoo.com

Website Down for a Day

The servers and hosting package for http://www.diplomacyworld.net is being changed. The site may be down for as long as 24 hours or so starting now (which is 10:30 central time on Tuesday October 8th, meaning it may be down until sometime on October 9th).

If you get your DW news from Facebook and I decide to never use this list for other stuff, you don’t NEED too join. All optional. Unless FB slowly dies off. But I still suggest it. It’s free and easy.

The reason for starting this Mailchimp list is as follows:

1. Enabling direct contact with DW readers where they can add or drop themselves with ease.

2. My current email mailing list is a mess of 8 groups that I have to mail BCC two per day or I get tagged as spam by Yahoo and I can’t use Outlook for a day with that account. I need to get rid of that method and replace it with Mailchimp so I can easily communicate news, deadline reminders, and release announcements. (And, potentially, build it into hobby news announcements someday, but maybe not).

Larry Peery

I have been notified that on March 8th, Larry Peery died by his own choice. I can’t think of a time when Larry wasn’t involved in the hobby in some way, including his long period as Lead Editor of Diplomacy World. He will be missed. Please send me any memories or thoughts you would like included in the next issue or two of Diplomacy World. He has material on file for this and the following issue as well, which of course I will be publishing on his behalf.
